But like many of us I've been watching the Oympics this morning. So was he - at the velodrome, looking delighted at our success. We shouldn't forget the great support he gave to Britain getting the 2012 Games, and his Sports Foundation plans might well bring in even more winners by 2012. And he has a habit of being in the right place at the right time. He has learned SO much since he left office. Now it might be clear to the Brits that he is even more of an internationally focussed politician than he was before. I think THAT is important in a leader in this contracting world where we are beginning to understand that we NEED each other so much - climate change, terrorism, energy supply, trade, religious differences etc. As for persuading Blair himself - well, once his poll numbers rise to 60+% - and once they lay to rest forever this wmd/war criminal nonsense - things could be different. Especially if Labour continued to drag itself down under Brown. Having said that, it may NOT be until AFTER the next general election! Perhaps Cherie could persuade him.
