BBC report: TERROR ARRESTS LINK TO PM THREAT

The arrests of three men over terror offences are linked to an investigation into threats to kill Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his predecessor Tony Blair.

Is the shadow of death threats hanging over Brown & Blair?

In January, on a Jihadi website, al-ekhlaas.net, threats were made against the lives of the present Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his predecessor Tony Blair. All other politicians too are under threat. Oh, and the rest of us, by the way, for those of you who couldn’t care less about our politicians!

So if your initial reaction is “more power to the terror elbow”, think again. YOU too are the targeted infidel. Don’t be fooled. It has absolutely nothing to do with the wars in the Middle East.

A MESSAGE TO WOULD-BE MURDERERS

Here in the UK, and in civilized democracies, we do NOT kill our leaders. We vote them out of office. Or, as with Mr Blair, our political parties (in their wisdom/foolishness) ask them to kindly leave. We don’t, repeat DON’T assassinate them.

If you’re British, or even living in Britain, and you feel that you can murder our politicians or the rest of us for ANY reason, please note this. Or kindly leave.

I wrote about the threats in January here.

At the time I wondered if it was all a hoax; some kiddie-winkles talking tough. Today it looks as though it may NOT have been a hoax. The message was written by “Umar Rabie al-Khalaila”, in English at the al-ekhlaas.net website.

Of course many will still make out it is all a hoax. These are presumably ignorant Islamist apologists, Guardian readers or British lawyers. Many legal ‘minds‘ in Britain would lend a willing hand to Al Qaeda, if my online encounter earlier this year with one such character is anything to go by.

Presumably these suspects can only be held for 28 days, each week an extension sought for 7 more days. Let’s hope that will be enough time to search online databases in their electronic systems – computers and mobile phones, as well as their personal contacts. Otherwise, the civil & human righters will be screaming “let them go”, forgetting that these people may neither be civil nor human. Sometimes it takes longer than a month to gather the amount of evidence to stand up in court, since British home-grown terrorists are hard to distinguish from the rest of us, according to a recent report.

Roll on 42 days detention, and then more if necessary.

I for one trust our elected politicians more than I trust the civil and human rights lobbies.

The group posting the statement called itself “Al Qaeda in Britain” and demanded the withdrawal of British forces from Iraq and Afghanistan.

The men, aged 21, 22 and 23 were arrested at Manchester Airport and in Accrington, Lancashire.

They were held in connection with the website threats, which included a demand for the release of Muslim prisoners from Belmarsh high-security prison in London.

Two of the men were about to board a flight to Finland. Counter-terrorist officers from Greater Manchester and Lancashire are now in Scandinavia continuing their investigations.

The arrests were a joint operation between Lancashire Police and Greater Manchester Counter Terrorism Unit.

Detectives have searched the homes of the men, aged 21, 22 and 23.

Two of the addresses searched were on Percival Street, Whalley Range, and Cromwell Street, Audley Range, in Blackburn.

Police have until Thursday to charge the men, release them or seek an extension to their custody.

The Times report of 30th January this year makes clear that two online threats were made in that month.

‘Al-Qaeda has threatened a wave of suicide bombings in Britain unless all troops are withdrawn from Iraq and Afghanistan and Islamist prisoners are freed from Belmarsh jail by the end of March.

The statement, which also includes specific assassination threats against Gordon Brown and Tony Blair, appeared earlier this week on al-ekhlaas.net, a recognised jihadi website.

It was posted in English under the banner of “Al Qaeda in Britain” but remained on the site for only a brief period.

Earlier this month the website, which is monitored by intelligence services around the world, announced the formation of al-Qaeda in Britain under the leadership of someone calling himself Sheikh Umar Rabie al-Khalaila.

The same individual signed the second statement, which appeared on January 24 and began with the demand for the withdrawal of British forces from Iraq and Afghanistan.

The message continued by insisting on the release of “all Muslim captives” from Belmarsh high-security prison in south-east London. It named the radical clerics Abu Qatada and Abu Hamza al-Masri as prisoners who should be released immediately.

Abu Qatada, a Palestinian cleric who is fighting deportation to Jordan, is in the prison estate but is not held at Belmarsh.

Abu Hamza, the hook handed former imam of Finsbury Park mosque who is awaiting extradition to the United States, is a key figure among the terrorist prisoners at Belmarsh.

The al-Qaeda statement added: “If the British government fails to respond to our demands within the last day of March 2008. . . then the martyrdom seekers of the Organisation of Al-Qaeda in Britain will target all the political leaders, especially Tony Blair and Gordan (sic) Brown.”

The list of targets would also include “all embassies, crusader centres and their interests throughout the country”.

The SITE Intelligence Group [Ed: SITE here, but no longer operating. More on this entry here], which monitors jihadi internet activity, said it was not possible to verify the authenticity of the statement. But it noted that it had been posted on an open section of the website and not one of the more secure closed forums normally used by al-Qaeda affiliates.

Reporting on the posting, the respected Jamestown Foundation in Washington DC, said: “British security officials had difficulty assessing the seriousness of the threat, which appeared only briefly on al-ekhlaas, but comes at a time of heightened vigilance following warnings from Spanish police that Pakistani nationals intended to launch suicide attacks on the London transit system.”

Scotland Yard’s Counter Terrorism Command is aware of the al-ekhlaas site but refused to say whether it was being monitored or whether the latest threat had any credibility.

A spokesman said: “We regularly monitor a range of websites and organisations. Any information we receive will be considered and appropriate action taken.”

The current threat level in Britain is “severe” meaning, according to MI5, that there is “a high likelihood of future terrorist attacks” and “a continuing high level of threat to the UK”.’

Many sites reported on this at the time, including Jihad Watch, which has many comments. Among them is this:

‘As for the Bible, the Torah and the Gospels: yes, they are very different from the Quran, or the Sira or the Hadith.

I will tell you what the difference is, from a Christian point of view.

The entire moral teaching of the Bible is summed up in something sometimes called The Golden Rule. Jesus – Yeshua of Nazareth – taught: “therefore, all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets” (Matthew 7:12). In teaching this Jesus/ Yeshua spoke as a fully observant Jew.

St Paul, also Jewish, taught the same: “See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, among yourselves, AND TO ALL MEN.” – 1 Thessalonians 5: 15.

Paul and Yeshua were Jews. Here is the Jewish foundation of the same rule:
“Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD [i.e. YHWH]“, Leviticus 19:18.

Jewish theologians expressed the principle in these words: “What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow man. This is the law: all the rest is commentary.” Talmud, Shabbat 31a. Note it says ‘your fellow man’; it does not say ‘your fellow Jew’. One must seek not to harm ANY person (though legitimate self-defence is not forbidden, in other places).

This is the principle by which pious Jews and Christians interpret their scriptures and govern their daily lives. It is in fact interpreted as reflecting and expressing God’s love and mercy which are shown even toward sinful, weak human beings.

Matthew records that Jesus taught people to love in the same way that God loves:

“But I say to you: Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you, and persecute you; that you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? Do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans do so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Matthew 5: 44-48.

Luke records a similar teaching:
“But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again: and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind to the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.” Luke 6: 35-36.

Jesus also said: ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets” (Mark 12: 30-31).

By contrast, Islam does not teach the Golden Rule.
Quran 48:29 says: “Muhammad is the messenger of Allah; and those who are with him are strong against Unbelievers, (but) compassionate amongst each other.”

Whereas the Bible says that God is kind even ‘to the unthankful and the evil’ (which even means you, ’saracen’, despite your rejection of Him), the Quran says ‘allah’ only likes good Muslims. In another thread you said, straightout, that your allah ‘HATES’ us kafir.

Many passages in the Quran clearly teach Muslims to distrust non-Muslims and not to make friends with them. Many passages teach Muslims to attack non-Muslims.

Everything that the Quran, the Hadith and Sira teach Muslims to do to non-Muslims, show that in Islam non-Muslims are regarded as having no real rights, and as not to be treated in the same way that Muslims are to be treated. (The dhimma pact is institutionalised inequality and indeed, gross injustice).

The following passage from the writings of a famous Sufi ’saint’, is horrifying to any moral and fair-minded human being:

“One who respects the kafirs dishonours the Muslims… The real purpose of levying jiziya on them [the kafir] is to humiliate them to such an extent that they may not be able to dress well and to live in grandeur. They should constantly remain terrified and trembling. It is intended to hold them under contempt and to uphold the honour and might of Islam”.
Sufi saint Ahmad Sirhindi (1564-1624), letter #163.

There is no charity here, only contempt, and an active will to harm and hurt, to keep the non-Muslims wretchedly poor, powerless and frightened, so that Muslims can prance around arrogantly lording it over them.

In Quran 48:29, and in Surah 9, and in Sirhindi’s elaboration upon the command in 9:29 to make the kafir ‘feel themselves subdued’, I do not see beauty. I see ugliness.

I am not surprised that some people, steeped in such ugly teachings, are prepared to become suicide murderers.’

A German’s View on Islam (OACC)

This is by far the best explanation of the Muslim terrorist situation  I have ever read. His references to past history are accurate and clear.  Not long, easy to understand, and well worth the read. The author of this email is purported to be Dr. Emanuel Tanay, a well known and well respected psychiatrist. I could find no affirmation nor denial of the validity of the letter in Snopes.com.

A German’s View on Islam

A man, whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II, owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism. ‘Very few people were true Nazis,’ he said, ‘but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the  majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned  us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories.’

We are told again and again by ‘experts’ and ‘talking heads’ that  Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectra of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.

The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor-kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers.

The hard quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the ’silent majority,’ is cowed and extraneous. Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant.

China’s huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.

The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.

And, who can forget Rwanda , which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were ‘peace loving’?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of  points:
Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence. Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don’t speak up, because like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.

As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

Lastly, anyone who doubts that the issue is serious and just deletes this email without sending it on, is contributing to the passivity that allows the problems to expand. So, extend yourself a bit and send this on and on and on! Let us hope that thousands, world wide, read this and think about it, and send it on – before it’s too late.

In his second statement this week, al Qaeda top deputy Ayman al-Zawahri is threatening more attacks in the United Kingdom.

Al Zawahri acknowledges Tony Blair has left office, and he addresses the United Kingdom’s new Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

“As for Blair’s successor, I tell him the policy of your predecessor has brought you catastrophes and defeat in Afghanistan and Iraq, and even in the center of London,” says al Zawahri in reference to the July 7, 2005, London suicide bombings. “If you did not learn the lesson, we’re willing to repeat it for you, God willing, until we are assured that you’ve fully understood it,” he says in the 20-minute audio statement found on the Internet today.

This is the 61st release by al Qaeda’s “production company” as-Sahab in 2007, according to IntelCenter, which monitors militant Islamist Web sites. As-Sahab, which released a total of 58 videos in 2006, “is currently operating at its highest production level ever. It is averaging a video release every three days,” says IntelCenter.

On the other hand - to show that I try to be fair -

‘Respondent felt that the demands on Muslims to ‘integrate’ are often unreasonable and inconsistent. The younger generation who get particularly frustrated by this because they feel that they have done all they can on their side to ‘integrate’. They felt that although integration is a two-way-process, yet the constant pressure on Muslims to integrate means that in practice only one side is emphasised. They argue that a sense of belonging is intimately linked to equal treatment that they expect from wider society. Thus Islamophobia, discrimination, and socio-economic marginalisation have a primary role in generating disaffection and alienation.

The respondents feel that, increasingly, acceptance by society is premised on the assumption that they should lose their Muslim identity. They feel that there is an assumption that their values are not compatible with ‘European’ values. In some instances the fact of having religious values is seen as a source of conflict with the majority European secular values. Furthermore most of the respondents feel that Islam is portrayed as undermining key values of European societies, whereas in their view the values of the average Muslim are entirely consistent with European values.’

Phoenix web host takes down Al-Qaeda website

According to this Jihad Watch post on 5th February, when the story first broke, there was concern and rightly so that this al ekhlas site was hosted in Phoenix, Arizona and/or Tampa, Florida.

Try clicking for it now and you get a domain name for sale notice. The site is now under a new name “http://ek-Is.org/” and can be found here. The English translated version can be read here. You may NOT wish to join up as a member! But at least you can watch the counter movements.

That’s 65,766 more visitors since I first posted this page yesterday. Many of us would be pleased to get this number of visitors per YEAR!

Not quite sure why but at Jihad Watch no-one referred to the actual threat content at the time.  Surely they knew what it was? I had the original story here as did others. But according to a commenter at Jihad Watch it seems that the original site was taken down only on the strength of one phone call from one journalist! WOW! Wonder if that always works? Worth a try.

The website of Bill Warner, an American private investigator, is worth keeping an eye on if you are concerned that your own government needs some help in their vigilance. He points visitors to the al ekhlaas forum (http://www.alekhlaas.info/forum/). These people evidently are multi-platformed and multi-hosted. Knock their site host out here, they’ll pop up again there. The problem with freedom and the unregulated, democratic internet. Exactly what these online jihadists aim to destroy – democracy and freedom.

I am not concerned that some say this kind of thing is an over-reaction. UNDER reacting is much more dangerous. Remember – just because you’re paranoid, it doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you!

Why has it taken so long for the printed press to catch up with this story? Didn’t they take it seriously enough when it broke?

The Telegraph seems to have a slightly different version, pasted below.

‘Statement of the Leader of al-Qaeda in Britain, Shaykh Umar Rabie al-Khalaila:

We, the organization of Al-Qaeda in Britain, offer a truce to the British government.

Our demands are as follows:

I. A complete withdrawal of the British troops from Afghanistan and Iraq.

II. To free all Muslim captives from Belmarsh prison, and the foremost of them Shaykh Abu Qatada al-Filistini and Shaykh Abu Hamza al-Misri.

If the British government fails to respond to our demands by the last day of March 2008 as they fail to answer to the truce of our Shaykh Usama bin Laden and to the truce of the Emir of Believers Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, then the Martyrdom seekers of the organisation of al-Qaeda in Britain will target all the political leaders especially Tony Blair and Gordan Brown, and we will also target all Embassies, Crusaders Centers and their Interests through out the country, with the help of Allah.

Declaration of the Creation of al Qaeda Organization in Britain.

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate the Most Merciful We bring to the nation the good news of the creation of al-Qaeda organization in Britain, under the leadership of brother Muahid Sheikh omar Rabis al-Khalaila.

Our goals are:

1. Launch major attacks against Crusaders’ centers and interests.

2. Eliminate members of the political class, and on top of them Brown and Blair, in accordance with the Quran verse, “fight ye the chiefs of Unfaith”.

3. Our goals are to Eliminate all those who stand in the face of the truthful Mujahideen and eliminate all those who aid the Crusaders against Muslims, as per the teachings of the Sheikh of Islam, Mouhammed Ben Abdel Wahab in his book, “The Ten Nullifiers of One’s Islam”.

Presently, 23:37pm BST (GMT+1) on 25th August, it stands at 26,632,751, which is exactly 130,186 more than yesterday. Either this crowd are fiddling the figures, have a brilliant webmaster or have quite a following!

And just over 24 hours later – 27th August, at 00:32:03 it is set at this …

… which is 40,138 hits since the previous one. Not as great an increase as yesterday’s, but some of yesterday’s may have been FROM WESTERN COUNTRIES, and due to the press interest over the assassination threats.
