KHOODEELAAR TO YOU TOO

The automated links generated by WordPress brought me this gem after my previous post “Kill Brown & Blair”.

After getting over its strange blog construction, I searched around and found the meaning of KHOODEELAAR!

Excerpt:

Khoodeelaar! is the most recognised [Seelotee =Sylhet+Syhetti-language] word in the East End of London [and farther afield] when it comes to campaigning in the area against big business and powerful forces that want to destroy our community.

There is no one-word translation of Khoodeelaar! available in the English language. At least three words are absolutely needed to convey the basic meaning. Eg: They are digging, it is digging or [Unrecognisable, hostile invasive force] is digging!

Khoodeelaar! Is spelt like this to minimise the phonetic distortion of the Seelotee sound which would result if the word were spelt with the single u, the single I and the single a [‘khudilar’].

What? Can’t these people get by in London with good ol’ fashioned English? Or do they have to say it THREE times to understand the meaning of “dig”?

Their present campaign is (purportedly) against Crossrail.

You make up your own mind.

KHOODEELAAR!

Time for some digging in against – “[Unrecognisable, hostile invasive force]“?
