MADRID:  El Mundo: Europe needs Blair, German wants grey mouseFor the lining up occupation of the again created post of a constant EU Council President the conservative Spanish newspaper “El Mundo” writes from Madrid on Wednesday:

“The majority of the 27 European Union member states was itself united that Tony Blair would be the suitable man for the post of the constant EU Council President. But Germany and the Benelux states do not prefer a politician, to a shade on the large European leaders throw and its strengths in the development of compromises have.”

It is called further: “Into this raster the Belgian Prime Minister Herman van Rompuy or its of Luxembourg colleague Jean Claude Juncker fits. Nominating a grey mouse would however be a heavy impact for the reliability of Europe. The European Union needs a leader with personality and charisma to come out over from its dead end.” (DPA)
