From Innovations in Newspapers comes this intriguing map. It plots (the operative word) the secret editorial agenda(s) for the “moral underground” journalists at The Daily Mail.

Is this a new low? Even for the Daily Mail?

The map, which it seems hangs on a wall at the Daily Mail’s offices, is described as  “The Moral Underground”. Yes, I kid you not. That’s what it’s called.

You might think it intriguing that the Tube stop named “Mark Thompson” (BBC) is actually Tottenham Court Road and “Helen Mirren” (actress) is Green Park.  But this is easy-peasy target practice when compared to some of the other underground stops which guide the Daily Mail’s thinking.

For instance – the Westminster stop – mind the gap – has been re-named “Cannabis”.  Elephant & Castle is now “Guardian Readers”, and Morden is now “George Galloway”. Instead of Richmond we now alight at “Etonian Playboys”. And “The Taliban” (West Brompton) comes just before “Student Scum” (Parsons Green) on the District Line ending at  “Binge Britain” (Wimbledon.)

It is described at the source (h/t Innovations) as -

“The real and secret editorial ingredients of one of the most successful (and disgusting) newspapers of the world.

Click here to see the full map. Brilliant!”

The link through to The Poke here then shows the full-sized map, 2420 × 1551 of this smaller version below of the Daily Mail’s “Moral Underground”

Recognise it? Yes, it’s the London Tube map RE-NAMED.  Just so DAILY MAUL writers remember their way around the news, the real news and nothing but the news.

    UNBELIEVABLE!

And some wonder why I call it The Daily MAUL.

I was surprised at some of the omissions.  For instance there is no ‘EXPENSES SCANDAL’ OR ‘LYING POLITICIANS’. Not even a ‘TONY BLAIR’ stop.  AND THE DAILY MAUL GOES THERE OFTEN ENOUGH.  I imagine they fall into several Station Stops – for instance – ID cards, Americans, Brussels, The Euro, Stately Homes, Greedy Bankers, Hypocrisy, Crime Wave, Illegal, Evil, Fury.

But if you’re a Londoner you might be wondering what is your local Tube station called now, according to the Daily Maul? If you’re on their Blue (Piccadilly) or Brown lines (Bakerloo) you’re all right. You might be living at some nasty cancer or other illness, but that’s nothing to worry about.

You could be catching the tube at George Galloway, Wheelie Bins, Single Mothers, Guardian Readers, Greedy Bankers, Queen’s English, Islam, Archbishop Rowan Williams or horror of horrors  – Terry Wogan.

KEY to LINES a la Daily Mail (with a few samples)

And on the Brown line – Medical scares.

    On the Red line – Media Scum – There’s Michael Moore/Alan Rusbridger/Dr Rowan Williams/Cheeky girls/Lady Gaga/All the Redgraves/Phil Mitchell/Shami Chakrabarti.

On the Yellow line – PC Gone Mad – the euro/ID cards/ energy saving bulbs/ wheelie bins/ wind turbines/ speed cameras.

    On the Black Line -  Arch-Enemies – Mohammed Al-Fayed/ foreign nurses/ social workers/ pc brigade/ lesbian teachers/ immigrants/ traffic wardens/ asylum seekers/ benefit cheats/ terrorists/the French/estate agents/ paedophiles/ immigrants/Channel 4/Americans/executives/ Mark Thompson/ the homeless/ George Galloway/pigeons/ gay Mafia/ Guardian readers/single mothers

On the Blue line – Cancers, illnesses.

    On the Green Line – Nuisances – Islam/prisons/24 hour drinking/Terry Wogan/CTV/ road rage/joyriders/The Taliban/ student scum/ council tax/ eBay/ sex education/ Primark/ binge Britain.

    On the Pink Line – Favourites – stabbings/ Brussels/ Gordon Ramsey/Dignitas/ lawnmowers/ Richard Madeley/stab vests/daffodils/Ascot.

    On the Grey Line – Femails – tasers/Carla Bruni/Sam Cam/ Jemima Khan/Americans/ hose pipe bans/ Nigella Lawson/Ann Robinson/ Fergie/Natasha Kaplinsky/Kirsty Young/Judi Dench.

    On the Purple Line – Rage-o-Meter – Queen’s English/stately homes/ house prices/snoopers/ illegal/ crime wave/hypocrisy/foul-mouthed/evil/ rage/fury/romp/outrage/ sick filth.

On the Turquoise Line – Obsessions – Violent fugitives/ marriage wreckers/gun-toting farmers/ greedy bankers Asbos/dictators/reality tv stars/ doctors on drugs/ social services/gay bishops

My most recent London pad was somewhere between Sun beds and Chelsea tractors, as it happens.

    Article at Poke:

For legal reasons he can only be named as ‘Journalist F’, but today this young member of The Daily Mail’s editorial staff is in hiding as threats and invective continue to spew from Paul Dacre’s office after their top secret editorial formula was leaked to the press. Journalist F, rumoured to be less than five years in the job, somehow gained access to Dacre’s high-security office, known in journalistic circles as ‘Fortress Britain’, and saw the secret formula tacked to the wall. Shocked by its similarity to a public transport system so often maligned within The Daily Mail’s own pages, he rolled it up, put it under his jacket and walked out of his job into a media firestorm.

“He’ll never work in this town again,” promised Jan Moir today, “We all know who it is and even if he becomes bisexual, moves to Hackney and smokes a pipe, he won’t even be able to get a job on The Guardian. He won’t get that far down the street. We have eyes, you hear me? Eyes!”

Speculation that The Daily Mail’s success was down to a top secret formula started in the late eighties, but it was dismissed as Fleet Street legend along with the real parentage of the Hitchens brothers and that thing Una Stubbs is into. Though such explicit mapping of the newspaper’s friends and enemies have set tongues wagging, the main surprise seems to have been the bizarre use of the underground system. Reports that The Daily Star’s secret formula is based on the number 10 bus route remain unconfirmed.

Since it seems that London’s Underground Map is seen as far game for re-naming, I hardly expect that the Daily Mail will take an exception to my altering ever so slightly their logo.

SO NOW WE ALL KNOW HOW THE MAIL FINDS ITS NEWS. Grab half a dozen key words, throw them up in tha air, see who and what they stick to -  and get on with it.

MAUL away, to your little heart’s content.

And the press say politicians spin.

Peter Mandelson accuses Brown’s henchman, Tom Watson (Source)

    Tom Watson

A fat lot of good 'killing off' Blair did you, Mr Brown-Nose-Lackey-Watson.

He [Mandelson] claims Mr Watson, MP for West Bromwich East, was acting under orders from Gordon Brown when he led a rebellion against Tony Blair which succeeded in forcing the former Prime Minister to quit Downing Street early.

‘Mr Blair was spared having to give in to demands to resign immediately because of a backlash against the plotters from party activists.

“What ultimately turned the tide was that not only in the Commons, but across the party, there was growing anger. Most of it was directed at Tom Watson, but only slightly less at Gordon himself. The Labour Party switchboard, website and email in-baskets were full of messages voicing fury at the way Tony was being treated.”’

Earlier I tweeted this tw*t Watson:

blairsupporter @tom_watson You’ve irritated MANY, including many in your own party. You and your ilk – welcome to the political wilderness.18 more years?

    John Rentoul re-tweeted this -

JohnRentoul “I think Peter’s account of my resignation is just supposition.” Tom Watson’s response to Mandelson version of the coup via @blairsupporter

Some people might suggest that Blair Supporters go on too much about the 2006 bloodless coup. In case you’ve forgotten it was when an elected Prime Minister was surgically removed from office by the mad, bad, deranged and ugly. Without a by-your-leave to the electorate! Without a general election or even internal leadership election a “new” Prime Minister – Gordon Brown – was imposed upon the country. And we now know where that got us.

I imagine some think we Blair Supporters are supposed to thank God the coup was ‘bloodless’ given the ‘mafia-like’ tendencies of Brown and friends? I doubt if people will still feel so sanguine over the removal of Tony Blair in 12 – 20 years.  When/if Labour has still  had no sniff of power, repeating the years between 1979 and 1997 until their then Golden Boy won it back for them and then held power for Labour for three consecutive election wins – a historical first for Labour – will they then turn on the real culprits, Brown, Watson, Balls, Whelan and the rest of the gang of bullies?

Or will the mournful, blameless cry just be – ‘Oh for the Golden Days of NEW Labour’ ? Followed by ‘Who the hell is/was Tom Watson anyway?’

    __________

    Birmingham Post article follows:

West Brom MP Tom Watson under fire in Mandelson’s autobiography

Jul 18 2010 By Jonathan Walker

Lord Mandelson has revealed his fury at West Midlands MP Tom Watson, in his autobiography detailing the untold story of New Labour.

He claims Mr Watson, MP for West Bromwich East, was acting under orders from Gordon Brown when he led a rebellion against Tony Blair which succeeded in forcing the former Prime Minister to quit Downing Street early.

But speaking to the Birmingham Post, Mr Watson denied the claims – and said he would set out what really happened in his own biography, telling the truth about the New Labour years.

The row dates back to 2006, when Mr Watson was seen as the ringleader of an attempt by Labour MPs to force Mr Blair out by signing a letter demanding his resignation.

REMINDER:  I wrote extensively on Tom Watson’s involvement with Brown’s summer 2006 ‘coup’.  Coup … or … How To Kill The Leader Without Anyone Getting Blamed and Coup – Brown: “nuffink to do wiv me, Guv”

Mr Watson resigned from his position as a defence minister at the same time. Although he was a friend and ally of Gordon Brown, then Chancellor, he has always denied Mr Brown was involved in the plot.

The coup, in 2006, forced Mr Blair to abandon his pledge to serve a full third term in office – which would have meant remaining in Downing Street until 2009 or 2010 – and he resigned in June 2007, allowing Mr Brown to take over.

In his autobiography, The Third Man, Lord Mandelson lays bare the internal battles which he claims sabotaged Tony Blair’s government.

    Peter Mandelson with his autobiography

Giving his account of the revolt, he writes: “Now Gordon was ready to move. The claim that he knew nothing in advance of the backbench plot over the week that followed is frankly incredible: the ringleader, Tom Watson, the Labour MP for West Bromwich East and one of Gordon’s closest allies, would not in those days have blown his nose without Gordon’s say-so.”

He adds: “Given that Tom was a fully-fledged member of Team Brown, who owed his promotion as a junior defence minister to Gordon’s lobbying, any pretence that Tony’s next-door neighbour was a mere spectator was now gone.”

And Lord Mandelson claims former Birmingham Erdington MP Sion Simon (Lab) was enticed to join the plot because he was angry at not being given a Ministerial job by Mr Blair. But Mr Blair was spared having to give in to demands to resign immediately because of a backlash against the plotters from party activists.

“What ultimately turned the tide was that not only in the Commons, but across the party, there was growing anger. Most of it was directed at Tom Watson, but only slightly less at Gordon himself. The Labour Party switchboard, website and email in-baskets were full of messages voicing fury at the way Tony was being treated.”

Lord Mandelson admits that his anger continued even after Gordon Brown asked him to return to government in 2008 as Business Secretary, after four years way from Westminster as a European Commissioner in Brussels.

But he says he received a warm welcome from Mr Watson and other Brown footsoldiers such as Dudley North MP Ian Austin.

“There was a similarly rapid rapprochement with people like Ian Austin and even Tom Watson, close Gordon aides who had previously worked against me and Tony, but who now welcomed me back.”

Mr Watson said: “One day I will get around to writing an accurate account of my side of the New Labour story. “Over the years I have defied the will of Tony, Gordon and Peter, much to their fury on occasion.

“I think Peter’s account of my resignation is just supposition.”

UPDATE, 20th JulyWilders popularity highest ever in opinion poll: If elections were held now, the PVV would win 35 seats in the Lower House, 11 more than it won in the 9 June general elections. Its previous high dates from 9 April 2009, when it would have won 33 seats, according to De Hond.

Geert Wilders IFA International Freedom Alliance Interview Subtitled/Translated

    ANTI-ISLAM OR ANTI-MUSLIM?

To see how suicidally ultra-liberal are the British papers, just take a look at their headlines on Geert Wilders new International Freedom party. They invariably headline with such as “Wilders to spread anti-Muslim movement”.

In fact it is an anti-Islam movement. Since Islam openly aims to impose a worldwide caliphate on the WHOLE WORLD, a free man in a free country in a free continent is entitled to start a new alliance against that ambition. Surely?

Atlas Shrugs also noticed this headline brainwashing here with reference to our dhimmedia”. (meaning: the British/western Islam-compliant press, exemplified here after 7/7 London bombings.)

‘It is laughable how transparent and islamized the dhimmedia is. Yesterday in the AP Newsbreak (they were first with the story), they shaped the narrative. AP said that Wilders was forming an anti-Islam organization (no mention of freedom), and today the Guardian ran this photo with the headline “Geert Wilders to spread his anti-Muslim movement west.” Could they have worked any harder to find a more unflattering pic of Wilders? And check out his hand — what are they implying with that deliberate crop?’

    TALKING TO OF THE HAND?

NEED MORE EVIDENCE OF PRESS DHIMMITUDE?

From The Telegraph – (copied and pasted?)  – “Geert Wilders to spread anti-Muslim movement to UK”G

The Guardian has another copy and paste job from AP -  “Geert Wilders to spread his anti-Muslim movement west”

Their actual url reads – http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/jul/16/geert-wilders-netherlands-far-right

Even though Wilders is NOT of the “far right”.

And to ram home THEIR point, the Guardian’s subtitle is – “Dutch far-right politician forms international alliance to attempt to ban immigration from Islamic countries”.

As Atlas Shrugs points out, there is nothing in any of the above headlines/sub-headings about FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY. The press, left and right, have lost the plot; if they ever had it to begin with. Perhaps their plot is NOT that of FREEDOM & DEMOCRACY’S.

But, they DO remind readers of this, in the body of the article

“Wilders is due to stand trial in October on hate speech charges stemming from his short internet film Fitna, which denounced the Qur’an as a fascist book that inspires terrorism. The film aroused anti-Dutch protests around the Muslim world, and he was banned for several months from entering Britain.

But he is unrepentant and said he now wants to take his message outside the Netherlands.”

To be fair, and I do try to be fair, The Guardian does eventually quote Wilders on “freedom”.

The more accurate Mail headline is – “Anti-Islamic crusader launches  recruitment drive in UK”

And Mr Wilders gets plenty of support from commenters:

    1. “I believe we should have a stop of the mass immigration from Islamic countries, not because the people are bad, but because they bring a culture that really is against everything in our own values.’

How true is that even down to to toilets in new shopping centres pandering to these people
If you live here adopt the values and standards instead of living here because you have an easier life then whence you came
If you don’t like the values and standards leave
I also think that any new immigrant should have to wait for a certain period of time and pay into the system before getting any benefits out of it and any that then break the law in the first 5 years are deported immediately after any guilty verdict
I would vote for this man seems to be a politician with a backbone unlike the home grown ones who only want to feather their nests.

Geert Wilders for President of Europe ,at last a man with balls !
Someone who can give us back our country”

    2. Geert Wilders is a hero for the future of our children and grand-children, he should be President of Europe. You have MILLIONS of supporters Mr Wilders.

Yes, I hear you. This is The Mail and I often rate that publication in the same bracket as racism and porn. But on this I am with them. the reason I found voting difficult the last time was that I believe this issue to be THE MOST IMPORTANT facing us. It’s not the economy, which WILL be sorted, perhaps sooner than the present government would like us to believe. It’s not the NHS, which greatly  – HUGELY – improved under Labour. The Health service is a great liner which will take some time even for this ConDem government to turn around. It’s the Islamification of Britain and the west and the leadership to STOP IT in its tracks which is the big issue facing us.  NOT ONE major party is concerned with this.  If we don’t turn that destroyer round some time soon, we have a problem.

If we DO choose to consign Wilders to the mad, sad and bad shelf, because we are or because we know so many good Muslims, we will be making a wrong judgement call.

I am sadly coming to the conclusion that the certainties, comforts and liberalism of democracy has within itself the seeds of its own destruction.  Quite how we Brits will deal with Mr Wilder’s plans is yet to be seen.  He has listed Britain as one of the five countries – Britain, Canada, the U.S., France and Germany – where he will first launch his international campaign, starting after November, when hopefully he will be a FREE man, after his utterly reprehensible and nonsensical court case, over insulting Muslims.

I wonder if THIS ConDem government, with its dominating (Lib Dem-imposed) civil rights emphasis will try to keep him out of Britain as Brown’s government did, to its endless shame.

The First Post heads the story correctly- “Geert Wilders to take anti-Islam party global”

    Dutch politician Geert Wilders

Populist Dutch anti-Islam politician will launch his party in USA and UK

But then it describes Wilders incorrectly as  “the anti-Muslim politician Geert Wilders”

‘Speaking about the UK yesterday, Wilders said his nascent organisation, dubbed the Geert Wilders International Freedom Alliance, would try to occupy the space between the Conservatives and the BNP, which he said was “racist” and “not my party”. Wilders is often described as far-right but frequently stands up for gay and women’s rights.’

Sky News has – “Dutch Politician Forms Anti-Islam Coalition but rather spoils it all with the sub-heading - Controversial Dutch politician Geert Wilders has said he is forming an international “freedom alliance” to amplify his anti-Muslim message across the West.

I have just received a comment at another post here. The commenter is bringing out his own book to counter Wilders.

OPEN SOURCE JIHAD – ESPECIALLY FOR YOU

From Homeland Security US comes some light summer reading.

Al Qaeda terror magazine “Inspire” in English

    By Douglas J. Hagmann, Director

A few quick points from their magazine, written by an American-born convert to Islam (pdf file here)

    1. On OBAMA – “And after these lean years, there has been no mentionable change in the things which matter; and after all of this, their new proxy was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and he accepted it in an extreme example of the deception and humiliation of humanity.”
    2. On USA & the West – REMOVE THE CANCER – “All praise is due to Allāh. America is the one forcing us to target it. These heinous crimes which the human soul rejects such as the cartoons of the Messenger and holding celebrations and awarding those who curse the Prophet require us to target the Americans. In fact they require us to wipe them out of the map completely. America is a cancer that needs to be removed along with the West that is supporting this criminal behavior and are banning the niqāb of the chaste and pure Muslim women.”
    3. Climate change is GW Bush’s fault.
    4. Noam Chomsky is their hero.And there’s more -

ADVICE TO MUSLIMS IN THE WEST

Q9: In the end what is your advice to the Muslims in the West?
My advice to my Muslim brothers in the West is to acquire weapons and learn methods of war. They are living in a place where they can cause great harm to the enemy and where they can support the Messenger of Allāh.

Then there’ s this on the NIQAB, referring to Sarkozy and France and other EU countries recent decisions to ban it:

‘As mentioned above the niqāb is not mandatory on Muslim women according to many scholars. But because it is a right of Muslim women and because it has become a symbol of being a Muslim today, Muslims need to take a firm position in this battle and dig in their trenches. For this reason we promote that Muslim women in the West who do not view wearing niqāb as being a religious duty to wear the niqāb as a public sign of their rejectionof forced assimilation, as a symbol of their pride at being Muslim, as a public statement that is carried as a badge of honor in face of a decadent Western way of life, and a statement that proclaims that even if I am not obliged to wear the niqāb, I will wear it because I refuse to have the West decide for me how I am going to practice my religion.’

    And a little more -

‘Within a short span of time there was Fort Hood, the operation of Omar Farouk, the attempt against the Swedish cartoonist and finally Times Square. There is no reason to believe that such attacks would abate.’

    _______________

    The entire article:

From Homeland Security US comes some light summer reading.

Muslim terror magazine “Inspire” in English

    By Douglas J. Hagmann, Director

    16 July 2010:

What do detailed bomb making instructions, global climate change, Arizona’s immigration law and the American dollar as a reserve currency have in common? They are all mentioned in the first edition of the Yemen-based English language version of Inspire, a magazine published by the Muslim terrorist group Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula’s (AQAP) that was released last Sunday.  It is a 67-page glossy publication that is the product of Anwar al-Awlaki (a/k/a Anwar Nasser Abdulla Aulaqi), a U.S. born al Qaeda terrorist and the facilitator for at least two of the 9/11 hijackers. He is also the inspiration behind Fort Hood killer Nidal Malik Hassan, the guidance counselor to the attempted Christmas Day airline bomber, the thwarted Times Square bomber, and at least two other Islamic terrorists in the U.S.  It has been branded as the first magazine to be issued by al Qaeda in English.

A complete copy of the publication was obtained and carefully reviewed by investigators of the Northeast Intelligence Network, finding it to represent a new level of threat to the West and specifically, to the United States. Beyond the detailed bomb making instructions using household products and easily accessible components, the publication will likely serve its name well by effectively inspiring Muslims in the U.S. to launch small scale attacks inside our borders.

The magazine features columns ostensibly written by al Qaeda terrorist leaders Ayman al Zawahiri and Osama bin Laden, the latter who favorably references the Progressive’s party’s favorite author and American socialist Noam Chomsky on the evils of U.S. policies.

A section of the magazine is dedicated to promoting the assassination of those involved in the publication and dissemination of the cartoon depictions of Islam’s Mohammed, including Seattle resident Molly Norris. According to al-Awlaki, it is the duty of Muslims in the U.S. to seek out and kill anyone who has defamed Islam or Mohammed by printing or publishing such cartoons.

“This is a golden opportunity to have the honor of performing an act in the service of Islam greater than any form of jihad. Defending the Messenger of Allah is a greater cause than fighting for Palestine, Afghanistan or Iraq; it is greater than fighting for the protection of Muslim life, honor or wealth. This is the pinnacle of all deeds and is waiting for the likes of Muhammad bin Maslamah.” He added: “We will fight for him, we will instigate, we will bomb and we will assassinate, and may our mothers be bereaved of us if we do not rise in his defense.”

The authors also collectively appear to understand the politics and current divisiveness within the U.S., even taking a swipe at Arizona’s attempts to secure its southern border by the passage of a state law that will take effect at the end of this month.

Interestingly, in an article written by Anwar al-Awlaki titled “Shaykh Anwar’s Message to the American People and Muslims in the West, he complains about Barack Hussein Obama’s attempts to disassociate the murderous actions of Nidal Hassan at Fort Hood from the Muslim religion.

“[The Obama] administration, tried to portray the operation of brother Nidal Hassan, as an individual act of violence from an estranged individual. The administration practiced a control on the leak of information concerning the operation in order to cushion the reaction of the American public. Until this moment the administration is refusing to release the emails exchanged between myself and Nidal. And after the operation of our brother Umar al-Faruq the initial comments coming from the administration were looking the same: another attempt at covering up the truth.”

According to U.S. Representative Pete Hoekstra, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, the magazine “is proof positive that al-Qaeda and its affiliates have launched a direct appeal for Americans to launch small-scale attacks here at home.”

Based on our analysis, we certainly agree.

A final commentary concerning the man behind Inspire, an English language terrorist tool: Anwar al-Awlaki. Born in 1971 in New Mexico while his father was in the United States on a diplomatic posting from Yemen, al-Awlaki holds an engineering degree from Colorado State University. He also holds a Master’s degree in Education from San Diego State University. He attended George Washington University for a PhD in Human Resource Development on a scholarship provided by the Ministry of Education in Yemen. He fraudulently received $20,000 in scholarship money from a U.S. government program for his schooling in Fort Collins, Colorado by misrepresenting himself as an international student.

From 1996-2000, he was the Iman at the Rabat mosque in San Diego, California, which was the “spiritual” home to two of the 9/11 hijackers. While in San Diego, he was twice arrested for soliciting prostitutes in August 1996 and April 1997. Previously, he had been in contact with an associate of “blind sheik” Omar Abdel Rahman, the terror leader whose followers were convicted of the 1993 bombing attack of the World Trade Center. He had direct ties to the Dar al Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Virginia. The Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center has been described in official U.S. reports (Traveler Enforcement Compliance System [TECS] reports) as having been “under numerous investigations for financing and [providing] aid and comfort to bad [organizations] and members, and as “a mosque operating as a front for Hamas operatives in [the] U.S.”

About a week after the attacks of 9/11, al-Awlaki was in the hands of investigators, being questioned about his terror ties. A warrant for his arrest was issued in 2002, and investigators had him in custody at JFK Airport that October.  In other words, we had Anwar al-Awlaki, and could have prevented him from his facilitation of terror. The magazine Inspire might never have been published. More importantly, many American citizens might still be alive.

At the direction of David M. Gaouette, a former assistant U.S. attorney in Colorado in 2002, the warrant was pulled, most likely at the direction of the former administration or the Department of Justice. Investigation reveals that at the time al-Awlaki was about to be arrested, he was reportedly working at the Saudi Embassy under the protection of then Saudi Ambassador Prince Bandar (bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud), husband of Princess Haifa bint Faisal. Haifa bint Faisal indirectly funded at least two of the 9/11 hijackers.

In 2008, David M. Gaouette was appointed by the Obama administration to the position of U.S. Attorney in Denver within the Holder Justice Department. Prince Bandar was elevated to the position of Secretary-General of the National Security Council in Saudi Arabia. And Anwar al-Awlaki is now publishing English language terrorist magazines from Yemen.

We are providing our readers with the elusive publication at this link:

Peter Mandelson’s ‘The Third Man’ AVAILABLE NOW.  Alastair Campbell Diaries, Vol 1 – ‘Prelude to Power’ (if it’s not “out of print”)

THE MAN IN THE SHADOWS (OF THE OTHER TWO, OR THREE, OR MORE)

So, who exactly attended Mandy’s book launch last night, ready and willing to “pay here”?

Britain's former Business Secretary Peter Mandelson poses for photographs with a copy of his autobiography "The Third Man: Life at the Heart of New Labour" at a book shop in London July 15, 2010. Britain's Labour Party, ousted from power after 13 years of rule, risks seeing divisions reopened by the publication of Mandelson's memoirs, long at the heart of its internal intrigues. REUTERS/Paul Hackett (BRITAIN - Tags: POLITICS SOCIETY)

For a start, at Mandy’s book-signing in London there was author and ‘cheeky f**ck’ Robert Harris, the erstwhile Blair colleague, who is still friendly with recently freed child-molester Roman Polanski.  Harris recently worked with Polanski on the movie – The Ghost (Writer)[If you are interested in Harris's and Polanski's dreams for the MAN AT THE TOP (oh yes it WAS TB) of New Labour - a bullet in the head or a suicide bombing - you might wonder why the 'Prince of Darkness' keeps such company.]

Guests at the launch included former SDP leader, former Labour Defence Seretary, former politician, and former “I would have beaten Blair to lead Labour” dreamer David Owen. (See ‘Doctor, Heal Thyself‘)

A swathe of political journalists including Jon Snow, Andrew Rawnsley, Peter Oborne and Laura Kuenssberg will no doubt be tapping away their reports right now, if they haven’t already.

A smiling Gail Rebuck also put in an appearance at the party. [Who is Gail Rebuck?]

Rebuck, chairman and chief executive of the Random House Group, will publish Tony Blair’s autobiography A Journey this autumn, and there has been speculation as to how publication of The Third Man will affect Blair’s sales.

If it affects Blair’s sales at all, it will only be to increase them as has always been clear to me.

Dr Death, aka David Owen receiving his signed copy of Peter Mandelson's book. Oh how the 'great' and hubristic have fallen.

Here, with some clips from last night’s London launch of his book,  Mandy tells BBC Radio Wales that his party in Wales should have embraced the New Labour project.

‘As he publishes his memoirs, he also tells Bethan Rhys Roberts on BBC Radio Wales, just how Tony Blair and Gordon Brown got along.

Later, former First Minister Rhodri Morgan disagreed with Lord Mandelson but said both Labour in government in Wales and in the UK had traded ideas. Mr Morgan said you “had to accept there would be divergences with devolution”.’

Insisting that he has to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth (more or less) -

‘Mandelson is brutal about Brown’s personality traits. “Gordon post-1994 is not the man that I knew for at least 10 years before 1994. In the aftermath of John Smith’s death and Tony becoming leader, Gordon went to a dark place that was defensive, did not make friends easily, saw people repeatedly out to do him when no such threat existed. He was backed into that corner with some poor advice given by people who surrounded him and who were too sectarian. They reinforced his defensiveness, his fears and his aggression rather than countered them to overcome them. Therefore the Gordon I saw during the period of the Labour government was more often than not an unhappy and an aggressive man, rather than the alliance builder and team player that I had worked with previously.

“I think this left a scar … that I hoped I could remedy, and help him operate in a different way. I did so only at the margin, but I wish I could have done much more for him. There was something about Gordon – he almost had to believe you were only on his side and agree entirely with him to be seen as loyal. Sometimes true loyalty comes from disagreeing.”‘

    AND THE WORD WAS LOYALTY

DAVID MILIBAND & BALLS & ABBOTT, OF COURSE

FIRST, WATCH ED BALLS (‘This Week’, Andrew Neil) – No “unbridled contempt for Tony Blair”, he says

(Oh, I HATE that Balls with a vengeance. ‘Unbridled contempt’ doesn’t come near. He’s a lying bastard.)

    Oh, sorry, where was I?

David Miliband says that “loyalty” stopped him challenging Brown for the leadership in 2008. Nothing to do with the possibility that none of the cabinet had the guts to back him?

The Spectator on the Balls-up Balls deterrent which stopped Labour replacing Brown also points to this Patrick Wintour Guardian interview with Mandelson. Excerpt:

Asked why, then, he tolerated Brown’s continuation in office he says: “I felt a sense of personal loyalty. I felt a real bond between us and I was not going to be shaken on that.

This is quite entertaining for those of us who have read Campbell’s Dairies. It is clear all the way through that Mandelson and Brown were far bigger enemies than were Blair & Brown. Saying something? Maybe.  And Mandelson is not seen by Campbell as the main cause of their ongoing bad relationship.

I could be wrong, but I think we will find when Blair’s book is released that there was, and possibly still is, more of a love/hate relationship between Blair & Brown than there ever was between and amongts many of the other main players. From most of those around Blair, as regards Brown, there seems to have been an intermittent, reciprocated hate.

And there’s more from Paul Waugh on David Milaband -

The Labour leadership frontrunner, who was this week accused by Lord Mandelson of considering a challenge to Mr Brown, said he remained loyal in the interests of the party and the nation.

Asked on BBC‘s Radio 4 Today whether he regretted not stepping down at the same time as James Purnell last year, he said: “I could’ve resigned with him and then we would have had two people out of the Cabinet.

“That would’ve meant more damage to the Government, more damage to the party and, since we would have lost the foreign secretary, more damage to the country as well.”

More on that nasty piece of work, Balls.

An unrebellious Lib Dem, Im sure, Mark Reckons – “Everyone is a liar apart from Ed Balls apparently”

    Follow FTWestminster tweets here

Ed Balls was the Labour leadership contender guest last night on BBC’s This Week programme (viewable here for the next week or so – see 24:45 onwards for 5 minutes).

Andrew Neil gave him a grilling about his behaviour as referenced in various memoirs and political books including those by Alastair Campbell, Andrew Rawnsley and Anthony Seldon. In each case it tended to be related to how badly behaved Balls had been and also how rude and disrespectful he was alleged to have been to Tony Blair. It was also about how he was supposed to have been involved in the plot to oust Blair in 2006. Balls’ response was to flatly deny every one of the several allegations put to him by Neil and alleged by the various authors. When pressed as to whether those writing these books were lying he even said yes a few times. So effectively what Ed Balls is saying that within a number of recent memoirs/books from a number of different (in some cases very widely respected) authors allegations about him are complete lies.

    And then there’s sweet Diane

Diane Abbott says all her four rivals for the leadership were ‘up to their necks’ in the Blair/Brown years feuds. Whereas she wasn’t.  Of course not. This bullying defender was never, repeat NEVER EVER up to the top mark politically. And now she wants to run the Labour party.

I recall her campaigning (loyally) to remove Tony Blair, as she shared a sofa with Michael Portillo, on Andrew Neil’s  This Week programme. In full pelt against Blair. Determined he had to go. Eyes sparkling over the prospect of Gordon Brown. Until Labour got him. Then her tune changed. He was a disappointment. Like Blair.

But then only SHE understands how to regain “the millions” (Old) Labour lost. Losing the “millions” must have been the reason NEW LABOUR won THREE historical victories under Tony Blair. She is a silly, sorry, stupid woman.

Is revenge a dish best served cold? Watching today’s so-called leadership contenders scrapping over what remains of the Labour party as its elders remind them of what they have now lost, I begin to wonder.

ITV video, ‘Good Morning’ - Peter Mandelson shares a personal text message with us from Tony Blair.

When asking Mandelson back into his government, Brown said to Mandelson – “I have a problem. I can’t communicate”

He aso said that the differences between Blair & Brown were not over personalities but over policies.

Now, if that IS the case there is MUCH more to come.

Don’t expect this grapple for the soul of (New) Labour to end any time soon.

Btw, I’ve just commented as pasted below at the Guardian. A litle reminder that Mandelson AGREED with Blair on the Iraq decision.

Since the Guardian has a habit of removing my comments – don’t know why – I’m pasting it here:

Blair was RIGHT on Iraq. Mandelson realised it and so “agreed with him in the end.”

The also-rans in Blair’s government and circle were slow. Blair wasn’t .

You little hangers’n’ floggers should look elsewhere for your victim. How’s about G Galloway, who a few weeks ago – while addressing HIS natural constituency – threatened 10,000 dead bodies on the streets of London. Galloway in London recently, threatening “10,000 dead bodies on the streets”

Blair to Mandelson: “I specifically have said to all who have asked that I’m NOT angry!”

[Correction, Mr Waugh. Unless Mandy is exaggerating - and would he ever? - Tony added two exclamation marks. Personally I doubt he used any, but that's a moot point.]

This text message from Blair to Mandelson seems to lay the lie to his being miffed over Mandy’s book, as The Times insists he is.

I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THAT SCORED-OUT BIT SAYS UNDER HIS FINGERS!

    THREE TIMES A MANDY

Peter Mandelson was on TV twice today, perhaps more by now. I didn’t see either interview.   He was also interviewed on BBC Radio 4′s ‘Today’, for a full 15 mins 38 secs.

For me his radio interview is by far the most interesting. It seems to be a cry to the party and leadership candidates to ensure that the present Labour party takes the right – sorry correct route in the future.

He defended his decision to publish his memoirs so close to the election, saying that bringing them out at a later date would have risked him “not giving my views and analysis at a time when its most relevant to the [Labour] party as it sorts out its leadership and its future.”

THE BLAIR HUNTER, Paul Waugh at the London Evening Standard has this on the ITV show:

    WAUGH excerpts:

    __________

Peter Mandelson’s appearance on ITV’s This Morning turned out to be something of a classic.

    [...]

He proceeded to say that he served Brown loyally but ultimately “couldn’t work miracles”. He added that while Brown was impressive on the big picture, he was hindered by his poor “relationships” with people.

But best of all was Mandelson trying to get across that his book had not at all produced a backlash from his colleagues.

The Times (for those of you who haven’t been behind the paywall) today did a big Page 3 story that Blair was “livid” about the Mandelson book.

To ram home his point, the peer used the This Morning interview to get his Blackberry out and transcribe a message from Blair. It read:

“I specifically have said to all who have asked that I’m NOT angry!”

    [...]

It is true that when I rang Blair’s office early today to check the Times claim, they said he was definitely NOT livid.

    _______________

It’s actually quite hysterical reading some of these Blair haters. Presumably they’d rather Mr Blair HAD handed over to Mr Brown years ago. Brown being someone they disrespect with an often greater ferocity than that piled on Blair.

Our press have had their come-uppance coming up for some time.  Oh, what a tangled web we weave…

Peter Mandelson defends his book about New Labour (15 July 10) 8:14 BBC ‘Breakfast’

Or watch a 3 min clip of Mandelson this morning at the BBC

He insisted “yes, I have told the truth in this” on his “bad, mad and dangerous” quote from Blair on Brown. When asked why he and others had supported Brown as PM when many of them thought he was “unhinged” Mandy said “all will be revealed” in the book. He insisted that he was the only one who called for an election for the leader as he thought a coronation would be unhealthy for all. Not sure if his memory serves him well in that.  I am SURE there were others. Charles Clarke, for instance?

What? you didn’t think I was finished with my “Not The BBC/ITN/Sky 6/9/10/11/midnight News” series, did you?

    Don’t be silly.

Just found this video on YouTube.  It’s in Albanian. I have translated as well as the internet was able. You’re most welcome.

    TONY BLAIR’S ‘SONS’????

    Er… not quite.

I have offered an altered translation suggestion to the site where I got this translation. There are enough nasty rumours abroad already, as it were.

I really don’t think the nine boys are HIS sons. They meant his namesakes. But there seems to be no direct translation into Albanian for “namesakes”. Look, I know he was busy out there, and some of the boys do look a little like him…  but come on!

(Perhaps that’s why Cherie went along for the trip this time. Only joking. Honestly, Cherie.)

For any visiting Albanians – the heading at the top says -

Update, 9th October 2010. Good news: It seems this judge has been reprimanded for his anti-Israel bias.

  • 14th July 2010

  • Got a spare half hour to read this article? You’ll need it. But it is well worth it. I wish I could say this was the worst case of bias we are likely to see in British courts. I am afraid we will likely see many more. Brainwashing does not stop at the great doors of the law courts in Britain. It has seeped right through our society so that bad is good and good is bad.

This post below, pasted in its entirety from CIFWatch, is a follow-up from the earlier post here – UK Judge takes delegitimisation of Israel to new depths. It is worth reading the earlier one first, so that you know the background.

    Here is today’s post -

The Judge Who Thought He Was Defence Counsel

This is a guest post by Jonathan Hoffman

Some ten days ago I wrote here about the acquittal in the UK of seven defendants who admitted to causing £187,000 of criminal damage at the EDO MBM armaments factory in January 2009, at the time of Israel’s Operation Cast Lead in Gaza. The factory was exporting military equipment to Israel.

Until today I did not have the 87 page transcript of Judge Bathurst-Norman’s summing-up in the case (Lewes Crown Court, 28/29 June 2010). Remember that these are his comments to the Jury, prior to their deliberation in the Jury room which acquitted all seven defendants.

Earlier, many people suspected that the Judge’s comments were biased and this transcript proves the case conclusively. On the evidence of his summing-up, Bathurst-Norman was a member of the defence’s legal team, rather than the Judge.

If you do not have time to read this long article, just consider two excerpts:

The Judge illustrates the concept of “chain reaction” thus:

Page 9: We will all have read of Israel’s attack upon a ship on the high seas, killing nine people on board, and somehow, as the aggressors (puzzling for a lawyer like me) seemed to claim that they were acting in self defence. But the result of all that, of course, is that the nature of the blockade on Gaza changed, because for once there was such a huge outcry of world opinion that Israel thought it had better try and regain face in the situation. (Pause)

No mention of the fact that the Marmara was sponsored by the IHH with proven terrorist links (Germany has just banned it as a terrorist organisation); that there were known Jihadis on board; that warnings were ignored; that Israel soldiers were attacked with clubs as they boarded; that they carried only paintguns and handguns, to be used only if their lives were in danger. And so on. You can already perhaps see how distorted is the Judge’s summing-up.

Page 19: When it was all over, the United Nations Human Rights Agency set up a Commission to investigate what had happened. That Commission was headed by an eminent international Juris Justice Goldstone, who is himself Jewish. Because his report was not to the liking of Israel, he was condemned by Israel as being anti-semitic.

Of course Goldstone’s religion is relevant to nothing, except to those malefactors who (a) use it as a specious reason to argue a Report written by a Jew could not possibly be biased against Israel and/or (ii) use it (as this Judge has) in a ‘double lie’ which says (a) that the Israeli government called the author of the UN Report “anti-Semitic” (of course it did not) and (b) to demonise the Israeli government for calling a Jew an anti-semite.

I will now go through the transcript seriatim pointing out errors which amount to bias. These might be termed “sins of commission”. Purely for reasons of length, I will be sparing in pointing out sins of omission. But in tone this summing-up is similar to the typical CIF piece on Israel, eg by Seth Freedman. It has no place in a Judge’s summing-up in a Court of Law in Iran – let alone in the United Kingdom, the home of “British Justice”.

Page 10: Now you may be wondering what on earth has the actions of the Israeli air force to do with this country. The short answer is that if the Israeli Air Force was committing crimes in the way that the agreed evidence outlines in the unlawful killing of Palestinians in Gaza and in the unlawful causing of damage to property in Gaza, then under the War Crimes Act and other legislation any member of the Israeli Air Force who set foot in this country and who acted in that way would be liable to arrest and prosecution, as is anyone within this country who knowingly helps the Israeli Air Force to commit such war crimes.

A subliminal seed is being planted in the minds of the Jury here. Sure the Judge says “if” the Israeli Air Force was committing crimes …… But then he speaks of “agreed evidence” which, he says, “outlines” the “unlawful” killing of Palestinans and damage to property. Then he tells the Jury that it follows that Israelis who serve in the Air Force would be liable to “arrest and prosecution” in the UK. By this time, the average Juror would have forgotten all about that “if”. And nowhere does Bathurst-Norman refer to the reason for Operation Cast Lead – namely, the rockets that were fired continually at Southern Israel by Hamas terrorists. And nowhere does he tell the Jury that the UK government and the vast majority – perhaps all – of Western governments said that Operation Cast Lead was legal because Israel – like all countries – has the right – nay, duty – to defend its citizens.

Page 13: Democracy would not exist unless there were reporters and members of the public who were prepared to stand up for what they believe to be right, and sometimes, as in the case of the suffragettes, even to go to prison for their beliefs. As Edmund Burke says: “For injustice to flourish, all that is needed is for good men to do nothing.” Indeed, people like Mr Osmond [Christopher Osmond, the leader of the seven who admitted causing £187,000 of damage to the EDO factory] who put themselves in harm’s way to protect others may, in fact – there may be much to be admired about people like that. Perhaps if he had done it in this country in the last war he would probably have received a George Medal.

The Judge is clearly telling the Jury that he regards Osmond as a hero. He compares him to the suffragettes, clearly identifies him with Burke’s “good men” and admires the way that Osmond “puts himself in harm’s way to protect others” (Osmond was formerly in the disputed territories with ISM). He even suggests that Osmond deserves the George Medal (this ranks second to only the Victoria Cross in awards for bravery in the UK). This is a highly confused analogy. Is Bathurst-Norman suggesting that someone who attacked a British armaments factory during World War Two deserved the George Medal? Or rather someone who threw themselves in the path of a British tank? Or maybe in the path of a German tank? Whatever the Judge meant, it has no place in a British Court of Law, because it is a deliberately emotional statement designed for one reason and one reason only: to vilify Israel.

It is relevant here to mention the Judge’s (later) comment about Rachel Corrie:

Page 67: He [Osmond] knew of the Philadelphi corridor, the corridor made around the boundaries of Gaza by the illegal demolition of Palestinian homes by the Israeli army, during which Rachel Corrie, one of the International Solidarity Volunteers bravely stood in front of a bulldozer which was being driven by an Israeli soldier and was effectively murdered when he drove the bulldozer over her in 2003.

Now for the truth. Corrie was not “murdered”. The IDF investigation concluded that the driver of the bulldozer could not see her and that her death was an unfortunate accident. The IDF Judge Advocate’s Office concluded:

The driver at no point saw or heard Corrie. She was standing behind debris which obstructed the view of the driver and the driver had a very limited field of vision due to the protective cage he was working in.

An autopsy revealed that the bulldozer never rolled over Corrie: she was killed when debris dislodged by the bulldozer struck her head.

Page 14: I am going to start with the background relating to Israel and Palestine and to the evidence which points to the war crimes being committed by Israel in Gaza, an area over which Israel has imposed a blockade. The evidence shows that those war crimes are committed against the civilian population of Gaza and against the property of its residents, including the United Nations by the Israeli Forces.

This is pure demonisation of Israel to the Jury. There is no evidence that Israel committed war crimes in Gaza. Israel did pay the UN compensation for UN properties in Gaza that were damaged but what Bathurst-Norman failed to tell the Jury was that Hamas terrorists deliberately hid among among civilians and in the vicinity of UN installations. There is no such country as “Palestine” – surely a Judge briefing a Jury has an obligation to be accurate about such things?

Page 14: Now you have to look at the evidence coldly and dispassionately. It may be as you went through what I can only describe as horrific scenes, scenes of devastation to civilian population, scenes which one would rather have hoped to have disappeared with the Nazi regimes of the last war, you may have felt anger and been absolutely appalled by them, but you must put that emotion aside.

Justice? This is pure insidious poison. The Judge is whipping up the emotions of the Jury against Israel, then purely for form he tells them to “put that emotion aside”. He even throws in a Nazi/Jew comparison (antisemitic, see EUMC Working Definition). Of course the civilian casualties in Gaza were horrific – but that is war. Where is his reference to the Israeli casualties of suicide bombers; to the rocket attacks on Sderot; to the fact that Israel waited for years before taking action in Gaza; to the fact that Israel was careful to as far as possible only hit combatants, shown by the fact that 75% of the casualties were males over the age of 16, a demographic which forms only 25% of the Gaza population?

In the next paragraph he reveals more of his own prejudices:

Pages 14/15: Equally you must put aside any feelings of being thoroughly ashamed of our Government, of the American Government and the United Nations and the EU in doing nothing about what was happening.

On page 15 he refers to evidence by a ‘Dr. Taylor’ (a woman). In fact he means Dr Mandy Turner, an academic from Bradford University. (He could not even get her name right!)  It is not hard to establish that Dr Turner is also an Israel demoniser (and CIF Israel-bashing contributor).

Here is what the Judge reminded the Jury about Dr Turner’s testimony:

Page 15: She told us how the immunity which the United States by the veto affords – in the Security Council affords the protection to Israel and prevents it from suffering any reprisals for its actions. The result enables Israel to cock a snook at any decision of the United Nations or of the International Court of Justice by simply ignoring anything that is decided ….. Israel has been able to ignore resolutions like 242, calling on it to withdraw from Palestinian lands and calling for a United Nations Force to protect peace. However calls are made for Israel to pull – so whatever calls are made for Israel to pull down the barrier, and the judgment of the International Court holding it illegal and to stop building settlements in the West Bank are simply ignored by Israel in the occupied territories seized in 1967. One can see from the maps produced by Dr. Taylor that effectively Israel takes from the Palestinians more and more and more of their land.

There is so much wrong with this: where to start….

First, the Judge again conveys to the Jury the assumption that Israel’s action to defend its citizens was illegal. It was not.  Second, he misleads the Jury into thinking that Israel flouts Security Council Resolutions. Third, he fails to tell the Jury that the ICJ is for the most part purely advisory and has no powers of sanction. It is a creature of the UN and moreover there is no Israeli Judge on it. Fourth, his explanation to the Jury of UN Resolution 242 is hopelessly biased. 242 was two-sided. It called on Israel to withdraw but only in exchange for peace from the other side. By leaving out one half of the Resolution in his information to the Jury, Bathurst-Norman is derelict in his duty as an impartial Judge. Fifth, he suggests that the ICJ called on Israel to stop building settlements in Judea and Samaria. It did no such thing. Sixth, he suggests to the Jury that “Israel takes from the Palestinians more and more and more of their land”. This really is appalling. What is omitted? The fact that Israel took the lands as a result of the defensive war of 1967; that it offered all the lands back at Khartoum in that year but was rebuffed; that it withdrew the IDF from Gaza in 2005; that it has no designs on any lands; that it is a Party to the Quartet negotiations which envisage Judea and Samaria and Gaza forming a sovereign Palestinian State and substantial Israeli withdrawal from the settlements.

The Judge goes on to tell the Jury about the “Dahiya Doctrine” (page 17). He enunciates to the Jury a well-known trope of the Israel-bashers: that the “Dahiya Doctrine” is a policy for Israel to “apply disproportionate force and cause great damage and destruction to any village from which Israel was fired on”(it dates from the Lebanon invasion of 2006). In fact the “Dahiya doctrine” simply means that Israel targets civilian infrastructure used by terrorists. It is far more legitimate than the Hamas Charter which regards all Jews as fair game for slaughter. But of course Bathurst-Norman does not tell the Jury that.

He comes (page 17) to Cast Lead. He tells the Jury that the reason journalists were not allowed in Gaza was because Israel had something to hide. This is untrue. Journalists were not allowed into Gaza for reasons of safety. Moreover it was foreign journalists who were not allowed in. Palestinian journalists who lived in Gaza were of course free to report and they did. He then misleads the Jury about the use of ‘proportionate’ force, telling it that Israel used ‘disproportionate’ force when under international law, Israel was entitled to use the force that it used – which was proportionate in terms of eliminating the terror threat.

The covert Counsel for the Defence continues thus:

Page 18: On 15th January the Al Quds hospital was bombed. Hospitals, ambulance depots, mosques, United Nations compound, industrial and agricultural sites, the sewage and the electricity power plants were all targeted and damaged or destroyed

The truth is that the Al Quds hospital was “back to normal in three to five days” after the repair of damaged water pipes. The mosques that were targeted had been used as weapons depots: there is evidence of secondary explosions. Hospitals and ambulance depots were similarly used for military purposes. And of course Bathurst-Norman did not tell the Jury that the power station in Ashdod continued to supply Gaza throughout Cast Lead even though the workers were in danger.

Here is the Judge effectively misleading the Jury again into thinking that Israel is allowed immunity from international law:

Page 18: Had the same events happened anywhere else, you may think, there would have been military intervention by the powers in question, as there had been in Bosnia and Kosovo, but you may think double standards were applied because it was Israel – to Israel, because nothing happened.

Again, the Judge delegitimises Israel to the Jury. No doubt he would not tell a Jury that double standards are applied to the UK, which has intervened in Afghanistan. But Israel … now that is different. Far from “British Justice” this is pure venom.

On page 19 of the transcript the Judge tells the Jury that Goldstone said that

….certain weapons, white phosphorous, flechettes and DIMES .. were used indiscriminately against civilians, and so their use should be regarded as a war crime.

In fact Goldstone never said that DIMES were used. He said:

While the Mission is not in a position to state with certainty that so-called dense inert metal explosive (DIME) munitions were used by the Israeli armed forces, it did receive reports from Palestinian and foreign doctors who operated in Gaza during the military operations of a high percentage of patients with injuries compatible with their impact.

    A bit different…..

On page 21, the Judge is recorded as telling the Jury that Israel has not carried out any investigations. Another untruth.

The bottom line is simple. Judge Bathurst-Norman behaved more like the Defence Counsel than the neutral Officer of the Court that he was supposed to be. The role of a Judge – far from advancing his own political agenda – is to clarify points of law to the lay members of the Jury. Bathurst-Norman’s comments reveal that he has an extreme anti-Israel agenda. This case must therefore be declared a mistrial and retried under a neutral Judge. And Bathurst-Norman should be prevented from ever presiding over such a case again. Quite apart from anything else, thousands of taxpayer pounds have been wasted as a result of his bias.
