If you have been gullible enough to swallow the Telegraph’s purportedly truth-seeking obsession about MPs’ expenses, and you probably have been, you might like to take a look at this:
BLAIR ‘LIE DETECTOR’ MORPHS INTO ‘CREDIBILITY METER’
My qualified thanks to Mike Smithson at Political Betting for this.
Mike Smithson asked – How did the “Lie Detector” become a “Credibility Meter”?
The first screen grab from Daily Telegraph’s video coverage was taken at about 10.30am. Notice how the meter on the left hand side was described as a “Lie Detector”.
The one below was done at 11.45am – and notice how this has now been renamed “Credibility Meter”.
Has someone been batting very hard for Tony during the morning and if so who?
There lies a story.
Why ony “qualified thanks” to Mr Smithson?
Simple – the REAL story that Mr Smithson and his Conservative-supporting site have FAILED to address concerns the first and most important issues:
WHY ON EARTH DID THE TELEGRAPH THINK THAT A METER NAMED ‘LIE DETECTOR’ WAS ACCEPTABLE IN THE FIRST PLACE DURING MR BLAIR’S APPEARANCE?
WHY WAS IT DREAMED UP PURELY FOR TONY BLAIR’S APPEARANCE? (As I understand it this was the ONLY time the Telegraph had used a “lie detector” meter at the Iraq Inquiry.)
WAS THIS A FAIR, REASONABLE AND BALANCED WAY TO PRESENT THEMSELVES AS AN INTERESTED BUT SERIOUSLY APOLITICALLY DISINTERESTED PARTY?
IS THE TELEGRAPH A MAJOR PART OF TODAY’S BIASED & BRAINWASHING PRESS?
Clearly we know the answer to questions to 3 and 4 – No and Yes, respectively. For 1 and 2 we await explanations.
Until the Telegraph answers THOSE FIRST TWO QUESTIONS I don’t give a damn whether it was Blair’s lawyers or the Telegraph’s who ensured this mass brainwashing and travesty of (feigning) impartiality was altered.
Perhaps Ben Brogan, the Daily Telegraph’s Deputy Editor can dig deeper for us? No breath-holding now, folks!
