BUT THEY WON’T GET ME. I’VE GOT MY UMBRELLA

Colonel Gaddafi in a bizarre appearance in Tripoli on Monday

I’m watching Gaddafi right now on SkyNews live, from Libyan State TV.

    • He says he has no intention to step down as other leaders have.
    • He says he is “defying the tyranny of the United States and Italy.” Italy? (Libya’s former colonial power.)
    • “I’m not going to leave this land and I ‘m going to die here as a martyr.”
    • He says he is “the leader of a revolution.”
    • He also says “we defeated the United States and Great Britain.”
    • He is calling for people to come out on the streets in support of him tomorrow.
    • Orders his army and police to “crush uprising”

    Clearly bonkers.

WILLIAM HAGUE SAYS –  “THERE IS NO SUCH CONSPIRACY”

    • Britain has raised this issue at the UN today.
    • We will be assisting as many British citizens to leave Libya within the next 48 hrs by charter flight. Royal navy and commercial flights to evacuate British citizens from Libya.
    • The HMS Cumberland will be re-positioned near Libya in case it is needed.
    • In response to a question, Hague says Blair’s work with Gaddafi was the right thing to do, otherwise Gaddafi would still have WMD. But he said that he and Cameron disagreed on the release of Megrahi (Scottish government’s decision, NOT Blair’s.)

O, FGS, Gaddafi is now reading from his green book! It seems he could go on in this way for several more hours.

Tim Marshall at Sky News is one of the best we have on reporting any of the goings-on in this Middle East Democracy Outbreak.

I am staggered by all the hate directed towards our former Prime Minister. I believe that Tony Blair made the Iraq decision in good faith and is most certainly NOT a war criminal. If anyone should be tried at the Hague it should be those in the media for totally misrepresenting the information and facts. The media are to blame for fuelling this hatred as it is purely driven by them. (UK)

The greatest and most successful leader the Labour Party has ever had with the courage to fight the Islamist terrorists who really would like to kill us all, and you never hear a good word about him. The herd of independent minds, commentators, activists etc who have never had to make a difficult decision in their lives drown out all debate with their inane chants of war crimes and blood on his hands. Defend him at every chance. I just wish more people would do it. (Glasgow, UK)

Blair was the greatest Labour Prime Minister. It is a disgrace that the party has turned away from his legacy. Shame on Ed Miliband and his so-called ‘new generation’.

    1. Peter Reynolds Says:

      It is mindboggling isn’t it?

I suppose the big question is what can we do about it?

Should we do anything about it? Do we haev a responsibility to try and protect innocent people or “the opposition” against Gadaffi’s brutality?

On what basis can we or should we interfere in a sovereign nation’s affairs?

Questions that the ol’ orange one has considered before.

Maybe he’ll be brought in to advise?

        Hi Peter,

Most of us think the UN is there to do something. Something muscular, apart from impose sanctions etc which willl take months, years to make any difference. Something that’ll work. But the UN is pretty useless. And invariably vetoed by the Russians and the Chinese, great democratic states both! Not to mention others who are not too keen on the principle of democracy.

The reason Blair & Bush went into Iraq ws because the UN is used and abused by factions with their own interests (usually selfish, trade priorites) in mind.

The reason Gaddafi gave up his WMD was because he saw what happened to Saddam.

        Just as well
“the orange one” (less of the ‘ol, P – he’s about your age and you’re a young striving party leader now, aren’t you?) managed to talk him round. Otherwise The Mad Dog would be pitching his WMD at Italy today.

I think the bronzed one is advising already, btw. Glad to hear Hague telling it like it is. In comparison to the BBC and much of the press who see removing WMD from Gaddafi as a “shamed policy”.
