I am staggered by all the hate directed towards our former Prime Minister. I believe that Tony Blair made the Iraq decision in good faith and is most certainly NOT a war criminal. If anyone should be tried at the Hague it should be those in the media for totally misrepresenting the information and facts. The media are to blame for fuelling this hatred as it is purely driven by them. (UK)

The greatest and most successful leader the Labour Party has ever had with the courage to fight the Islamist terrorists who really would like to kill us all, and you never hear a good word about him. The herd of independent minds, commentators, activists etc who have never had to make a difficult decision in their lives drown out all debate with their inane chants of war crimes and blood on his hands. Defend him at every chance. I just wish more people would do it. (Glasgow, UK)
Blair was the greatest Labour Prime Minister. It is a disgrace that the party has turned away from his legacy. Shame on Ed Miliband and his so-called ‘new generation’.

They both helped bring down the United Kingdom. They both live now in luxury. They both should be ashamed. Money and fame is all that they wanted-and got.

So far as Brown is concerned your comment is absolute piffle

His shyness is notorious: their family car broke down on the family holiday last year and he and his family waited several hours for the AA

Blair and his wife were both successful QCs and would have earned small fortune had he not gone into politics I understand that Margaret Thatcher who married a millionaire like Blair joined a highly lucrative after dinner and etc speech circuit

Only the most deluded and hysterical tory could imagine that Blair or Brown worked in politics for fame or money.

      @ angela,

Bring down the United Kingdom? What hogwash. They both belonged to what I believe – and I am not even a Labour supporter – I don’t support any party – will be seen in time as one of the most reforming governments of the last century, and this one too, possibly. Almost everything they changed was opposed by the opposition Conservatives. Almost everything is now accepted.

  2. Quietzapple Says:

There should be no wedding until after abdications and a successful bill abolishing the monarchy in perpetuity

This would greatly enhance the prospects of their happy marriage

Hogwash Is It… Reforming is it.. To leave a country Bankrupt Is what You Call A Reforming Government. I suggest you (keeptonyblairforpm) Take The Rose colored Glasses Off And Find Out About The True Facts. Facts We All Know How To Get. Do You Have The Time?..

Sorry to be late to this discussion – just to say that of course both previous Labour PM’s should have been invited to the wedding. I suspect it was a pay back for banning fox hunting and the yacht.

Also had the two previous PM’s been invited they both would have appeared appropriately dressed and without the acres of newsprint devoted to the shall I/shan’t I wear a lounge suit? from the current PM.

Had the wives of the previous PM’s been invited I think we could confidently have predicted that they’d both be wearing hats, jackets and tights, which the occasion called for, rather than, in the case of SamCam, turning up looking as if she was popping off to see the kids school play.

As for Angela’s carping on about ‘true facts’, where’s she been, silly woman?. I can only surmise that she’s never read this blog which is long standing, honest and factual!!
Angela, you’re the one who needs to take the time to do some checking and reading – right here.
There are enough verified facts and accounts of events to keep you engaged and occupied for days.

    Best wishes BS.

      Hi santha,

Thank you for your thoughtful (and kind) comment. I have less time than I used to have for blogging these days, thus I’m a bit behind in responding to such as Angela, below. I think you have now saved me a few minutes more.

It’s not easy to identify EXACTLY why Blair & Brown were not invited. It could be a combination of factors. For me, having watched Tony Blair and researched his history for almost 5 years, I have a strong feeling it’s not so much the Royal Yacht or the fox-hunting ban, but something the monarchy would worry far more – Diana and anyone or any circumstance that would remind people of the past, at William’s wedding. I wrote part 1 on this some weeks ago.

I hope to get round to posting part 2 of my reasons for thinking this soon – and then part 3. Perhaps when I do you can come back here and see what you think. Athough fairly obvious, the mainstream press seems to have missed this.

      All the best.
