Tony Blair – Politicians & Media Bound To Have Relationships – NOTW Phone Hacking *NEW*

“For any political leader who’s been operating in Britain in the last 30/40 years the power of the media is such you can’t not have a relationship with people who are major and powerful media people. And by the way that’s not limited to News International. There is this slight sense in the UK where it’s all about Rupert Murdoch and News International. That’s true of any of the major media outlets.  So I think you’re bound to have a relationship, but I think it’s a lot easier to have the right type of relationship and a healthy one if it’s clear that there is a real distinction between news reporting and commentary.”

[Please note: I have added the emphasis where he places it.]

His last sentence above sums up the reason this blog is still up and running. Today there is NO such distinction. Opinion is accepted as fact. That was true even before the We All Knowers & the even more knowing We All NOW Knowers got going and knowing on their know-all blogs, tweets and Facebook opining platforms. But I’m sure you know that.

Here in a longer interview (8m+) on Good Morning on the launch of his memoirs he refers to the power of the press to distort, right from the start. And at 1:50 “the newspapers can create moods – drive people out and so on”

I am staggered by all the hate directed towards our former Prime Minister. I believe that Tony Blair made the Iraq decision in good faith and is most certainly NOT a war criminal. If anyone should be tried at the Hague it should be those in the media for totally misrepresenting the information and facts. The media are to blame for fuelling this hatred as it is purely driven by them. (UK)

The greatest and most successful leader the Labour Party has ever had with the courage to fight the Islamist terrorists who really would like to kill us all, and you never hear a good word about him. The herd of independent minds, commentators, activists etc who have never had to make a difficult decision in their lives drown out all debate with their inane chants of war crimes and blood on his hands. Defend him at every chance. I just wish more people would do it. (Glasgow, UK)
Blair was the greatest Labour Prime Minister. It is a disgrace that the party has turned away from his legacy. Shame on Ed Miliband and his so-called ‘new generation’.
